Own the Dial — Control the Process

Privacy Notice

This notice explains what Own the Dial LLC collects, why we use it, where it may go and the choices available to you.

Private-testing notice · Effective September 7, 2026

Legal review is ongoing. This notice describes the current private-testing product. We will update it before broader release if the product, vendors or legal requirements change.

1. Who controls your information

Own the Dial LLC is the controller of personal information processed through an Own the Dial account. Contact us at joshs@ownthedial.com. Please do not email passwords, reports or health records.

2. Information we process

3. Why we process it

We use information to provide the tracking, calculation, report, account and synchronization features you request; authenticate users; maintain security; respond to support and rights requests; comply with law; and improve reliability during private testing. We do not use health information to determine eligibility for employment, insurance, housing, credit or similar decisions.

EU/EEA and UK legal bases

We rely on performance of our agreement for core account functions, legitimate interests for proportionate security and reliability work, legal obligations where required, and consent where the law requires it. We process health-related information only with your explicit consent unless another lawful exception applies. You may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.

4. Where information goes

Account data may be processed by service providers that support authentication, database hosting, synchronization, security and product operations. Nutrition-label scanning sends the image you select through an Own the Dial service to OpenAI for extraction. Own the Dial does not intentionally store that image in its database and requests that the response not be stored, but provider security and retention practices still apply. Manual entry remains available.

Professional-directory links do not give a dietitian, trainer or directory access to your account. You choose whether to export a report and who receives it. We do not sell personal information or consumer health data, and we do not use health data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. International transfers

Our providers may process information in the United States or other countries. Before an EU/EEA launch, Own the Dial will document the applicable transfer mechanism and vendor safeguards, such as an adequacy decision, participation in an approved framework or Standard Contractual Clauses, as appropriate.

6. Retention and deletion

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, to maintain the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. During private testing, request deletion by email. We will verify the request, delete or de-identify information within the legally required period and direct applicable processors to do the same, subject to narrow legal exceptions and backup-cycle limits.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, know, correct, export, delete or restrict processing; withdraw consent; object to certain processing; opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising; appeal a denied request; and complain to a regulator. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right. See Your Privacy Choices.

8. Security and incidents

We use access controls, account separation, encrypted connections and other reasonable safeguards. No system is risk-free. We maintain an incident-assessment process and will provide notices required by applicable law.

9. Children

Own the Dial is intended only for adults age 18 or older during private testing. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Contact us if you believe a child provided information.

10. Automated decisions and advertising

Own the Dial performs calculations and creates summaries from numbers users provide. It does not make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. The signed-in app does not currently contain third-party behavioral advertising.

11. Changes and complaints

Material changes will be dated and communicated as required. EU/EEA users may complain to the data-protection authority where they live or work. U.S. users may contact their state attorney general or another applicable regulator.
